"Comb bearer." On Earth, a simple predatory animal, akin to sponges and jellies, which swims with cilia—the comb. Important for managing plankton blooms; can eat up to ten times its own body mass per day.

On this world, ctenophore-like organisms achieved vastly larger size and complexity than on Earth. Some appear to have adopted passive, sessile feeding strategies like sponges — often associated with the titan rockbore. These 'angel combs' may be obligate symbiotes on the rockbore.
